At Spanish Learning Network, we always say Spanish learning should feel alive... full of culture, travel, connection, and a little bit of magic.

So when I connected with James from LearnSpanishwithJames.com, it felt like one of those “of course this is happening” moments. We’re two second-language Spanish teachers from two different continents, brought together by our shared passion for travel, culture, and helping students experience Spanish beyond the classroom.

Because let’s be honest:You don’t learn Spanish just to conjugate verbs. You learn it to navigate cobblestone streets, to order coffee in a tiny café, and connect with real people in real places while making lifelong memories.

And then came the plot twist.

Somehow we realized… we are both heading to Antigua, Guatemala for Semana Santa this year. Same city. Same week. Same iconic immersion experience.

Out of all the Spanish-speaking destinations in the world, we independently chose one of the most breathtaking cultural celebrations in Latin America. The alfombras, the processions, the history, the energy. The full-on Spanish immersion magic.

This is why I love collaborating with fellow passionate educators. When teachers connect, ideas get bigger. Cultural understanding gets deeper. And our students ultimately get richer, more authentic Spanish learning experiences.

We believe immersion travel transforms language learning. Guatemala isn’t just a destination, it's living classroom. And experiences like Semana Santa in Antigua remind us why we do this work in the first place.
